Portable Library for PICU through the Christmas Book Appeal

We ran a Christmas Book Appeal and we were blown away by the response of our fantastic supporters! A portable library containing over 500 books was purchased and presented to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. This is will be a much used resource and will make such a difference to the families on PICU.

There are many benefits of reading to a poorly child as reading:

• Aids recovery when children hear a familiar voice
• Strengthens family bonds
• Encourages other members of the family to be involved
• Provides some normality during a stressful time

With the new portable library in the ward, thanks to Team Evie’s wonderful supporters, lots of families will have the chance to read to their child. There is such a wide selection of stories and information texts that there will be something for everyone!
